Backwaters calling...

It was my first trip to the lovely backwaters of Alleppy (Alappuzha), the Venice of South India. The day was gloomy and damp, as typical during the monsoon climate with dark clouds hovering above us. As the photographer in me worried about the light and exposure, the other members in my team were worried about the rains which may spoil our day in the houseboat. We rented a houseboat for day full and spend the whole day moving slowly through the backwaters of Alleppy. He had a typical Kerala lunch which special fish fry (Pearl Spot - Karimeen) and some lovely big lobsters, cooked live by our boatmen! Even though it didnt rain that day till we got inside our car while returning home, the overcast was there which hindered my shooting day! Anyway, with the existing light I shot these pics which showcases the beauty of Gods' Own Country even on a gloomy day !

My Images Cloud

From my childhood, one of my several dreams were to become a photographer. The first camera I got was an Italian Lica, which used 35mm film supported only b/w pics. I was then in 6th grade and was proud of my possession. Since I was not earning and film rolls were expensive, I kept my machine inside the box most of the time. I only could use it thrice and it got damaged. I had to wait a long 19 years for my next camera, which was a gift from my sis, a Sony Digital Camera with 3.2mega pixels, the best in those days. Until then I was happy to use my friends' machines. I was proud of my Sony and I used it for 6 years taking thousands of pics and carried it where ever I travelled. Its' main board damaged last year and the Sony folks told me, instead of fixing it, better buy a new one.

An SLR camera was always in my dream and I saved for that expensive piece. And I got one last day - my first DSLR - Nikon D3000 10MP DSLR with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens, Tiffen 52mm UV Protection Filter, Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control for Nikon, Bower 59 Inch Tripod. Now, that is a complete set for a beginner like me in the vast horizon of Professional Digital Photography. And I thank my best pal and bro, David for making this happen. Thanks dude Parapilly...

This photo blog is where I would like to share my work and experience with this awesome machine. All types of Comments and Criticism are welcome since that is the motivational aspect which may help me to grow as a photographer.

Thanking you all in advance.
